Ben Foster may actually be best known for independent films, but he's about to shoot to the big leagues with a rumored role in the upcoming Lance Armstrong biopic. Foster is reportedly in 'final talks' to play the titular character of Lance Armstrong, in what could possibly net him an Oscar nomination.
The film is officially being directed by Stephen Frears, and it will focus on, "Armstrong’s remarkable comeback from testicular cancer, his dominance of the Tour de France, and eventual downfall in a doping scandal."
Although this is one of many Lance Armstrong biopics in development, this is the first to have moved ahead with casting so it will probably be the first out in theaters. Hollywood seems to have gotten into the bad habit lately of producing multiple movies about the same subject matter [i.e. 'White House Down' and 'Olympus Has Fallen', 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and 'Mirror Mirror'], and this might not really be an exception.
Foster is best known for his roles in Rampart, Contraband, X-Men: The Last Stand, and he will next be seen in 'Ain't Them Bodies Saints' alongside Rooney Mara, and 'Kill Your Darlings' opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan.
