When it comes to casting an actor or actress as a superhero character in a comic book movie, you can guarantee that you are not going to be able to please everyone and there are always going to be those who are critical of the decision. Fortunately, while fans have moaned over the years when hearing initial casting decisions, Marvel have pretty much got things spot on every time.
There were some people who, when it was announced that Brie Larson had been cast in the role of Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, did not agree with the decision, and it seems that the actress herself was a bit unsure. Brie has been talking about agreeing to take on the role, admitting that it was something she had to think long and hard about.
Larson appears in the latest addition of Vanity Fair and, in the accompanying interview she told them, "It took me a really long time. I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. Ultimately, I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up. I really, really feel like it’s worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women—I’ll do it."
We will first get to see Brie Larson in the role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, when she appears in the movie Avengers: Infinity War, which opens on April 27, 2018 in the UK and May 4, 2018 in the US. Following that, Brie will star in her very own Captain Marvel movie, which is aiming for a March 8, 2019 release date in both the US and the UK.
