Christie Brinkley 'struck a blow' for mature women with her appearance in the Barney's New York 'Better Than Ever' spring 2015 campaign. The blonde goddess looked spectacular in a blue and brown sundress while surrounded by 13 muscular men wearing swimsuits and nothing else (Daily Mail - February 10).
The iconic model in an interview with Access Hollywood talked about how she loved the message the campaign sent to 'women with life experience' that they are relevant in the beauty industry. She explained how the United States is a very ageist country and how American women seem to have certain ideas about what the supposed rules are for aging and live as if they have "strict laws on how to dress" once one reaches a specific age (Access Hollywood - February 26).
Her sensational Barney's advertisement photo destroyed any stereotypes about how a 'mature' woman should dress and look with her fabulous, jaw-dropping appearance and brought attention to her youthful look.
The savvy businesswoman is combating the issue of ageism by using herself as an example of how being a 'woman with experience' does not meant that a woman's beauty has deserted her and she is showing this with the promotion of her anti-aging remedy, "Christie Brinkley's Authentic Skincare" line which will officially be launched on HSN.
Her 2015 business moves show that she is a supermodel who should not be underestimated as a businesswoman.
She showed 'women with experience' that one can look great at any age with spectacular photo for Barney's spring 2015 "Better Than Ever" campaign and followed it up with a promotional blitz in which she revealed some of the secrets of her looking so young: a vegan diet, active lifestyle and her "Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare" line.
At age 61 she looks marvelous, ready to be a fashion leader for 'women with experience' and in the process has some thinking that this advertisement might result in many more modelling opportunities for Christie Brinkley in the very near future.
