When it was announced that a new television series about Gotham City was going to get made, but that we would not actually have a Batman, many people were worried about how it would actually work. Fortunatley though, from what we have seen from Gotham so far and what we have been told, the series is looking like being a very impressive show, with plenty of familiar faces.
While we will not actually see Batman in Gotham, we are getting a young Bruce Wayne, who will be played by the up and coming actor David Mazouz, who has impressed everybody on the show. Gotham showrunner Bruce Heller has even gone as far as to say that David Mazouz is the best actor to ever play Bruce Wayne and that his talent forced them to use more scenes with the character.
Heller gave an in-depth interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he explained, "Well, I will say David Mazouz is, without doubt, the best actor ever to play the part of Bruce Wayne. He is a genuine prodigy of an actor, as you will see on screen. Frankly, before David was cast, I was ambivalent about how much we would use Bruce Wayne in the series."
With Gotham set to premiere on Fox later this year, here is what we already know about the series. We will see plenty of Batman villains on the show, including The Penguin, The Riddler and even The Joker at some point. We will see young Bruce Wayne witnessing his parents murder. Gotham will eventually conclude with Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. We cannot wait!
