Young and talented star Demi Lovato has been working in the entertainment industry for many years now and she has made almost as many headlines for her personal life, as she has for her career. It is no secret that Demi has had her problems over the years and she has been open about her issues, with the stunning star coming through them better than ever. She has now opened up about her time in rehab, admitting that she feels she is lucky to still be alive.
Lovato explained, "I lived fast and I was going to die young. I didn’t think I would make it to 21. Lovato first entered rehab in 2010 where she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and treated for bulimia. I thought, ‘I’m not in treatment for a drug and alcohol problem.'"
She added, "But once I started eating again, the other issues got worse. It was like whack-a-mole. I didn’t go into treatment thinking, ‘OK, now I’m going to be an inspiration.' At times I was resentful for having that kind of responsibility, but now, it’s really become a part of my life. It holds me accountable."
One of the key points to helping Demi Lovato come through the tough times in her life, would have to be the help and support of her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, who was there for her through thick and thin. Unfortunately, the couple announced that they had decided to bring their relationship to an end earlier this month.
