Actress Gina Gershon hasn't been seen on the big screen since her 2011 appearance with Matthew McConaughey in 'Killer Joe', but that hasn't stopped her from making waves. This Saturday, she'll appear as Donatella Versace in an original Lifetime move titled 'House of Versace'. Recently the actress opened up about playing one of the most famous fashion designers in the world.
Gershon calls 'House of Versace' a redemption story and a family drama that chronicles the famous designer's struggles to emerge from her brother's shadow.
"We are presenting a moment in her life that wasn't the most pleasant. She went through so much tragedy, and she had so much pressure and then she had such issues with herself and the family."
The actress states that while playing Donatella Versace was fun at times, it was also one of the most challenging roles of her career.
"As fun as she can be - and there is a certain generosity of spirit - there was also a lot of heaviness and toxicity. It was nice to get in there and then get out of there. She wasn't the easiest person to inhabit," Gershon stated. "I mean she is definitely a challenging person to play and to really try to get under the skin of."
'House of Versace' will air on Saturday at 8pm EST on Lifetime.
