Alyssa Sutherland came to prominence as an international model having appeared in campaigns for Bulgari, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein among her many clients but now she is becoming known as an actress.
However, in a recent interview with 'Sydney Confidential' about her filming a guest spot on the Foxtel series "Australia's Next Top Model" she revealed that while modelling brought her to prominence her "passion has been with acting for a long time and to actually have employment is really wonderful." (November 11-Sydney Confidential).
Her acting performance on the show 'Vikings' has earned her critical acclaim and has me looking at her as not the average model turned actress who finds some success but stays in 'light-hearted', stay in your comfort zone roles but instead as an actress who seems to be following the career blueprint of Charlize Theron, an international model star who at the peak of her modelling career decided to pursue a career as an actress and became an Oscar winner for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 'Monster'.
Alyssa Sutherland with her role as Princess Aslaug in the History Channel series "Vikings" is able to show that she is not just a beautiful actress but one with some substance and grit while showing an acting range of emotions that I suspect very few television and film producers anticipated she possessed.
Her impressive performance on the show combined with her comments that she cannot wait for her next new role suggests to me that she is someone who is ready and eager to prove herself as an actress with the ability to be a leading lady headliner.
Alyssa Sutherland seems like she is focused on becoming the next international model turned actress to become a headliner in Hollywood and as such is someone I expect will be making many beautiful appearances on the red carpet at movie openings in the future.
