A lot of people lost the faith in the humanity, but the latest gesture from the married couple Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher decided to show that there is still hope for the humanity and that we all should help each other when facing difficult situations in our lives. On December 27, 2015 Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have made a $1million donation to support victims of the conflict in Syria.
The first part of the donation $500,000 was aimed to Save the Children and the second half $500,000 was aimed to the International Rescue Committee to fund a measles vaccination program for children in Northern Syria and support families who are suffering from the ongoing conflict, especially women and children with education, health care, shelter and sanitation. Justin Forsyth, Save the Children CEO, announced:
"The Syrian conflict is now approaching its fifth year and children are the first victims. There is no safe place left in Syria, with shelling and violence omnipresent. Food and medicines have become scarce and basic necessities unaffordable. Syria’s health system has collapsed and deadly childhood diseases – like measles - which had previously been all but eradicated have now returned, threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of children."
He added, "By allowing us to make their generous donation to Syrian children public, Sacha and Isla are helping highlight the tragedy of the issue today. These are desperate times for Syrian families facing bombs, bullets and torture in Syria. The couple’s donation will save many thousands of lives and protect some of the most vulnerable children."
It is always nice to see the big stars doing things for charity and it inspires us to want to do more. Keep up the good work Isla and Sacha, you are both truly inspirational.
