It was way back in 1993 that the Hollywood beauty Kim Basinger got married to fellow Hollywood star Alec Baldwin, with the two going on to have a fairly long marriage together, in terms of celebrity marriages that is. In 1995, Kim gave birth to their daughter Ireland Baldwin, who is now a star in her own right, before the couple decided to bring their marriage to an end in 2002.
Following their split, Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin did not exactly see eye to eye and were far from being on speaking terms and, if not for the sake of their daughter, they probably never would have spoken again. Now, Kim has opened up about their split, revealing how it made her decide to adapt her parenting style and becoming more relaxed with her daughter Ireland.
Basinger explained, "Divorce is hard on a kid, no matter how you cut it and ours was very public and nasty. So I brought up Ireland in a very unconventional way. I just wanted her to be free. If she wanted to have her friends over and write over the walls with pen, that was fine. I wanted her childhood to be full of love and light and animals and friends. (Alec and I are) cool now, though. Life goes on."
These days, both Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger have moved on with their lives and, while Alec is happily married to his wife Hilaria, who is expecting their third child, Kim is currently in a relationship with hairstylist Mitch Stone. All's well that ends well!
