Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg has enjoyed a long and successful career in the acting industry and he has taken on some very interesting roles in some very exciting movies along the way. Next up for Mark is the new movie Deepwater Horizon and the actor has been talking about his role in the film, admitting that he had a great time shooting the project.
Wahlberg explained, "All the images that I saw from the actual event had to do with the environmental disaster, which is horrible. But people lost their lives. I wanted to make sure that we honoured those men and their loved ones. These guys do a very dangerous job. A lot of people aren't aware of what they sacrifice to provide resources for us."
Over the course of his acting career to date, Mark Wahlberg has played a number of real life people on the big screen, so playing the role of Mike Williams was nothing new to him. However, Mark has spoken about what it was like to work with Mike on Deepwater Horizon, admitting that he could not have made the movie without him.
Wahlberg added, "I don't think I'd have been able to do it without Mike. I've worked closely with people, certainly Marcus [Lone Survivor] and Mickey [The Fighter], on other movies that I've done. But I had no access to oil rigs. Mike was my eyes and my ears with everything, and he held us to a very high standard."
Deepwater Horizon has been directed by Peter Berg and is out now in both the US and the UK.
