Michael Buble is known to fans for his big band style of singing which makes many admirers think of Frank Sinatra but he is now he has achieved a different kind of fame as a character in a book for children. He attended the book launch of his sister Brandee's new book "O'Shae the Octopus" which took place at Kidsbook in Kitsilano, Vancouver with four generations of the Buble family. Apparently when a Buble is doing something they get the full support of the Buble clan and from the smile on his face at the event he enjoyed the opportunity to relax with his family during his break from touring.
While at the launch he disclosed that one of the characters in the book is based on him and to the surprise of many it is the character "Mean Mike the Manta Ray", a tough guy in the book who sometimes can be mean in a 'big brother' way.
The singer also let the interviewer know that he recent reached a major career highlight when he appeared on the long running kids television show "Sesame Street" which in his mind was a sign that he had actually "made it" as an entertainer. He performed with the Muppets in New York at the Sesame Street workshop benefit gala honouring Sesame Street co-founder Joan Ganz Cooney and one gets the sense that in his mind he is very serious about the appearance being a true indication of his career success.
The entertainer was able to attend his sister's book launch because of a short break in his world music tour as he had just finished performing in New Zealand and Australia where he accidentally knocked out a tooth by smashing himself in the face accidentally with his microphone stand but to his credit continued performing and then afterward had some emergency medical repairs which included getting a new tooth.
He resumes the North American leg of his world tour with two shows in Vancouver on June 19 and June 20 with the confirmation from the Muppets that he has made it and a place in his sister's children's book "Oshae the Octopus" as Mean Mike the Manta Ray'.
