When it was confirmed that we were getting another new X-Men movie, the fans were eager to learn which characters we were going to see joining the franchise, with many of them delighted at the news that we would get to see Psylocke appearing in the film. The fans then wasted no time in giving their opinions on which actress should play the role, before it was confirmed that Olivia Munn had been cast as Psylocke for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Now though, it appears that this was not the only Marvel role on offer for Olivia Munn, as she was actually approached to play the role of the girlfriend in the very impressive Ryan Reynolds movie Deadpool. However, Olivia wanted to play a kick ass character and was willing to sacrifice screen time in order to play a badass, something which she has admitted that she is glad she did.
Speaking about her early meetings with Marvel, Munn explained, "I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?’ The fight scene could be her monologue. I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, ‘Yes, as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’ And they (Marvel) said, ‘Yes, that’s an important part.’"
While we have already seen plenty of videos and trailers and clips, as well as pictures and posters and every other promotional material you can think of for X-Men: Apocalypse, we cannot wait to see Olivia Munn as Psylocke on the big screen. X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit the big screen on May 18 in the UK and May 27 in the US.
