We have seen a whole host of British stars over the years, who have made a name for themselves on a British soap, before then deciding to make the move to the US, in a bid to make a name for themselves in Hollywood. While some of these stars soon find it too difficult in the US and go running back to the UK with their tail between their legs, there are others who have stuck it out, with varied levels of success.
One actress who starred in a British soap and went in search of success elsewhere, is the actress Roxanne Pallett, who made a name for herself in the UK, playing the role of Jo in the British soap Emmerdale. Roxanne recently headed off to Bulgaria to film low-budget movie Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort in a bid to make it big and has been enjoying relative success, opening up about what drove her to seek a career as an actress.
Pallett was doing an interview to promote the DVD release of her new movie Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, when she explained, "I have never had a defining moment – it wafs who I was from day one. I was never one of those kids that had to sit down with a teacher and discuss what they could be. I was an only child, and so I was a constant exhibitionist."
She added, "I was always pretending to be dead at the bottom of the stairs, and my grandma would just step over me and say, 'Oh dear, she’s dead again.' I was always performing and pretending, and I loved anything to do with costume, accent and music – anything that stretched the imagination. So it was just who I was; it was my personality."
Wrong Turn 6 is available now on both Digital HD and DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
