Arsenal target Victor Valdes appears to be set to join newly promoted Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, according to reports. Valdes, who recently confirmed he would not be signing a new deal with Barcelona after his 500th match for the club, has only a month remaining on his current deal at Camp Nou and will most likely leave on a free transfer.
Monaco, who were recently acquired by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, now have the money to compete with the richest clubs in Europe. One of the main reasons Valdes has reportedly turned down a move to Arsenal is because the Gunners simply cannot match the money offered by the Les Rouge et Blanc side.
Valdes is only a medical exam away from signing with the French side who are confident of challenging for the Ligue 1 trophy next season. His contract will be worth a staggering £150,000 per week.
Also joining Monaco soon will be Columbian hitman Radamel Falcao who has reportedly agreed to terms with the club as Monaco's bid of £50 million was accepted by Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
Valdes was the only player in the Barcelona squad who has started all matches during the last three Champions League runs the Catalans had captured.
