When it comes to casting a movie, you can not always get the person you initially want, with many big movie roles going to an actor or an actress after someone else has turned the project down. In fact, when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are a number of now loved characters who were actually set to be played by someone else, before the role went to the star who now plays them.
Which brings us to the beautiful and talented English actress Emily Blunt, who has clearly been a favourite with the Marvel bigwigs over the years, but has still yet to make an appearance in a Marvel movie. Kevin Feige has tried to get Emily on board for a Marvel movie for many years now, but the timing has never quite been right and the actress is still waiting to join the MCU.
Emily Blunt was first approached to play the role of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow in Iron Man 2, a role which she had to turn down and eventually went to Scarlett Johansson, who has done a great job since. Then, Emily was offered the role of Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, but again had to turn the role down, with Hayley Atwell going on the land the role.
Meanwhile, when it was announced that Marvel were bring us a Captain Marvel movie, many fans called for Emily Blunt to land the role, with the actress herself also admitting that she would be interested in appearing in a Marvel movie. However, the role eventually went to Brie Larson and we are still waiting to see Emily in a Marvel film.
We are sure that we will eventually get Emily Blunt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it could be quite some years yet. Watch this space.
