When it was announced that a Star Trek reboot movie was being made, we were interesed to see which stars would be cast in the familiar roles. After Zachary Quinto was confirmed as playing the role of Spock, we were very excited to see how he would approach the role and how it would compare to that of his predecessor Leonard Nimoy.

Zachary Quinto took over from Leonard Nimoy
It is fair to say that Zachary Quinto gave us two very impressive performances in her Star Trek movies and it seems that he got a lot of help and inspiration from Leonard Nimoy. Unfortunately, there was some devastating news recently, as it was announced that Leonard Nimoy has passed away. Zachary has now reminisced about his time with Nimoy, in a heartfelt tribute to the star,
Quinto told the Guardian, "I first met Leonard Nimoy in 2007 at the Comic-Con conference in San Diego where it was announced I would be taking over the role of Spock. I was really excited to meet him and hopeful he would support me stepping into it. I never imagined how our meetings about the character would evolve into a very profound friendship. Leonard lived his life so beautifully and with such grace."

Leonard Nimoy was a great Spock
He added, "He was a very honourable person, and his life reflected that. His family reflects that. I lost my father at a very young age, and Leonard came to occupy a space in my life that was like a father figure. I had this person that I could look to with such respect. He was refined. And he cultivated a sense of dignity and respect for other people. I look at the life he lived and aspire to that level of fulfilment."
Zachary Quinto first took over in the role as Spock in the 2009 Star Trek reboot movie, before then going on to reprise the role for the 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. He will next take up the role of Spock for a third time, in Star Trek 3, which is expected to hit the big screen on July 8, 2016 in the US. We look forward to it.
A lovely video of the two together
